Location & History

Located 50 miles from the Florida Coast in the western Atlantic, The Bahamas comprises an archipelago of more than 700 islands and 2,000 cays extending across an area of approximately 80,000 square miles and has a population of 385,000. It is considered a stable upper-middle income, developing nation with more than 275 years of stable democracy.

During Columbus’ discovery of the New World in 1492, he named this paradise Baja Mar (shallow sea) because of its clear turquoise aquamarine and dark blue waters, the numerous brilliant colored coral reefs and the pristine white and pink powdered beaches.

Travel

Various international airlines serve The Bahamas, flying from key destinations in Europe and North and South America. So travel to our paradise could not be any easier.

Government

The Bahamas government is committed to maintaining an economic environment that allows free enterprise to flourish in a stable society, allowing its people the opportunity to realize their greatest potential. As a proper regulator and facilitator of economic development, our government fosters a policy of transparency, fair play and equality of treatment. The Bahamian dollar remains on par value with the U.S. dollar.
